The candles

+What are Slowburn candles made of?

100% soy wax, cotton-core wicks, and phthalate-free fragrance oils. No paraffin, no dyes in the wax beyond what the scent requires, no shortcuts. Each jar is hand-poured in batches of 90.

+How long do they burn?

Our 5 oz tins burn around 30 hours, 8 oz jars around 50 hours, 12 oz around 70, and the 16 oz three-wick about 90. Burn times assume sessions of 2–4 hours with a trimmed wick.

+Are the scents strong?

We aim for present, not perfumey. A 8 oz jar comfortably scents a home office or bedroom. The three-wick handles open-plan living rooms and ambitious lofts.

+Is Slowburn a real company?

Slowburn is a fictional brand and this is a demonstration store. Checkout runs in Stripe test mode — no real charges, and (sadly) no real candles ship. The rituals, however, are real and we recommend them.

Shipping & returns

+How fast do you ship?

Orders pour out of the studio within 2–3 business days and arrive in 3–7 depending on your distance from us. Slow is in the name; we never said it was just the candles.

+Do you ship internationally?

We ship to the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and India at checkout. Duties for international orders are calculated at the border and are the recipient's responsibility.

+What's your return policy?

Unburned candles can come home within 30 days for a full refund. If your candle arrives damaged, send us a photo within 7 days and we'll replace it — no need to mail us broken glass.

Candle care

+How should I do the first burn?

Give it 2–3 hours, until the melt pool reaches the edge of the jar. Soy wax has memory: a short first burn teaches it to tunnel, and no one wants a candle with bad habits.

+How do I make my candle last?

Trim the wick to about 5 mm (1/4") before every burn, keep sessions under 4 hours, and keep it out of drafts. When 10 mm of wax remains, retire the jar — it earned it.

+Can I reuse the jar?

Please do. Freeze the jar for a few hours, pop out the remaining wax, wash with warm soapy water. It makes a fine pen cup for the desk you're now leaving at 6:01.
